Music is an important part of my day. I'm almost always listening to something, humming something, or futilly trying to write something. The following links go to places about music I listen to, not that I write.
Sometimes, I like to pretend that I can write music. Then later, I pretend that I can play what I wrote and record it. Below are little songs and things I've done either for a music theory class or just for fun. Some will have real people playing and some will just be cheesy MIDI. New music will appear very slowly on here.
What about copyright, ownership, etc. of this stuff? Well I obviously maintain ownership over the songs on here because I wrote them. I don't care if you download them and listen and share them. If I did, I wouldn't have posted them on a website. You just might not want to use one of these things for your own assignments.

| Melody exercise in G mixolydian | mp3 | 1/16/2003 | This is just a quick eight measure 4/4 melody that I turned in for an assignment. I'm playing it on the flute. No guarantee is given that I'm playing anywhere near in tune on this one. |
| Chord progression exercise | midi | 2/2/2003 | This is a simple four chord progression in B flat major. The progression is as follows: V, augmented vii, IV, I. The third chord in there sparked a good bit of discussion in my music theory class about why it doesn't sound quite right. |
| G major melody | mp3 | 1/27/2003 | I needed to write two different melodies. This is the first one, done in 6/4 (because I have some harmony to go with it). I'm playing the flute on this one too. |
| B flat harmonic minor melody | mp3 | 1/16/2003 | This is the second of two melodies. It's in 4/4. I started writing it in A flat major but played it with every A natural. So it sort of changed into a minor key. Once again, I am the one doing the playing. |

Three Blind Mice
Three Blind Mice round |
midi | 2/2/2003 | For this assignment, I was to pick a nursery rhyme and harmonize it. I chose "Three Blind Mice", which just happens to be a round. This was harder than I expected as every four measures, the song starts over but the notes in each chord need to line up right. As a result, there are some seventh and ninth chords in there somewhere. I did two versions of this, both as MIDI: one just straight through and one as a round. |
